Message from the Head of Department

Welcome to the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. It is among the three engineering departments at The Nyamira National Polytechnic.

Over the years, Electrical and Electronics Engineering has been the backbone of Kenya’s economy and the world at large. The Nyamira National Polytechnic offers an opportunity to equip learners with knowledge of how the industry works, as well as providing them with engineering and technological skills needed to design, install, and maintain various electrical systems.

We offer our students industrial attachments and field visits that enable them to integrate theory with job practice. We also engage them in Electrical and Electronics practicals at the college workshop. Our team of qualified and skilled trainers (both male and female) and a technician, experienced in their areas of specialization, ensure effective training. The trainers also offer psychological support. We offer face-to-face training, and soon we will introduce online learning to give room for flexibility.

Our graduates find employment in the following sectors:

  • Kenya Power and Lighting Company
  • Manufacturing firms
  • Power producing companies

The courses offered in the department are examined by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) and the Curriculum Development Assessment and Certification Council (CDACC).
